MISSION STATEMENT

 

The Chippewa Falls Park Board seeks to promote well-rounded leisure opportunities for all its citizens by providing stimulating programs through effective leadership, adequate facilities, planning and financial support.

 

To meet the needs of all people, the Park Board, through its leadership and its

beautiful parks and various organized recreation programs, dedicates itself to providing

meaningful leisure activities for enriched living at every age, and therefore adopts the following goals and objectives.

 

GOAL 1

Provide proper supervision and management of all public parks, recreation programs, and forestry programs, and other similar public property and functions as assigned by the City Council.

           

OBJECTIVES

1)         To appoint a Director of Parks, Recreation & Forestry.

2)         To hire a Park Supervisor

3)         To hire a Recreation Supervisor

4)         To hire a Secretary/Receptionist

5)         To hire a Maintenance Staff

6)         To hire part-time and seasonal employees as needed

 

GOAL 2

Provide development, maintenance, and operations of all public recreational facilities and

activities, as it shall, from time to time, determine are in the best interest of the City and its citizens.

 

OBJECTIVES

1)         To develop a Master Plan for Irvine Park.

2)         To develop a Master Plan for the Outdoor Municipal Pool

3)         To develop a Master Plan for a Museum and Nature Center

4)         To develop an Athletic Complex

5)         To provide opportunities for recreation throughout the year, which the people
            cannot furnish for them.

6)         To provide such socially acceptable opportunities in leisure which will provide
            personally satisfying experiences, consistent with varied interests, needs, and
            abilities of all citizens, without regard to age, sex, race, creek or social status.

7)         To provide sufficient and safe facilities, well maintained and properly managed and

            supervised, in order to enable communities, families, and other groups and
            individuals to engage in a variety of activities of their choice. 

 

GOAL 3

Provide quality park facilities and a variety of recreational opportunities and experiences to meet the needs of the community’s residents.

 

OBJECTIVES

1)         To provide passive park and recreational facilities to meet the needs of elderly community

            residents and all other age groups.

2)         To obtain, when opportunities are feasible, sites for open space, playgrounds,
            parks, etc.

3)         To establish priorities for needed outdoor recreation facilities based on general
            standards, existing recreational land distribution and existing and/or future
            deficiencies.

4)         To provide opportunities for rural residents to enjoy the community’s parks and
            recreation areas.

5)         To preserve and protect land uses adjacent to existing community parks &
            playgrounds.

6)         To coordinate the community’s recreation program with the programs of other
            levels of government and with private enterprise to ensure maximum public benefit.

7)         To provide access and adequate parking for streams, lakes and public recreation
            areas.

8)         To market scenic values by controlling billboards, signs, junkyards, and other
            unsightly land uses and practices.

9)         To provide for the recreation needs of the physically and mentally disadvantaged in
            the community.

10)       To provide for the periodic review and updating of the city outdoor recreation plan
            so that it will reflect the changing needs of the community’s residents.

11)       Maintain a program of hiring those people who are the best qualified to fulfill the
            responsibilities and requirements associated with parks and recreation planning,
            programming & maintenance.

12)       Areas of the city which are presently lacking adequate park area should be
            considered first when new additions to the city’s park system are proposed.

 

GOAL 4

To cooperate in the coordination of all community resources, and with all agencies, private, voluntary, and public, in providing the community with a functional overall park & recreation program for all citizens in our city.

 

OBJECTIVES:

1)                  Coordinate and schedule use of the Chippewa Falls School District facilities.

2)                  Cooperate with the Chippewa Valley YMCA on programming activities.

3)                  Support Chippewa Falls Chamber of Commerce activities that pertain to  tourism.

4)                  Support and assist the Chippewa Falls Main Street Association.

5)                  Work with all youth groups to encourage the development of our youth by providing wholesome recreation opportunities.

6)                  Work with all service clubs that dedicate themselves to improving our quality of life in Chippewa Falls.
