Lock Your Vehicle

Recently an all too common complaint from residents of Chippewa Falls is that someone has entered their car and stolen property. Residents need to be aware of this on-going problem and take measures to prevent this from happening. The common link in these thefts is that the thief was provided with an opportunity by the owner leaving their vehicle unlocked. Only in rare cases is force used to enter a car. The thieves know there is no need to use force; they will find their helpful victims within a block as the neighbor probably didn’t lock their car. Even though it is parked in the driveway, your vehicle should be locked. The thieves have no qualms about entering the yard to see if your car is locked.

In an effort to reduce your chance of becoming a victim, remove valuables from the car or keep them hidden. If feasible, install a motion detector where you park your vehicle. If you see someone suspicious around your or your neighbors car please call the police.  Last and most importantly – LOCK YOUR VEHICLE!

PS  Remove your keys first.

We would all like to think we live in Mayberry, but unfortunately times have changed.
